Feathered Visitors

One more pic from the Blizzard of 2010. This rock leans up against our house and was covered with snow. When I let the dog out, I noticed that we'd been blessed with a feathered visitor! I'm sure there's a poem brewing in this pic somewhere. When it makes itself known, I will share it!

Here are scenes from the blizzard of 2010. The first picture is the path that my husband dug out to our street before he had to rest.  This is a heavy snow, and there's lots of it.  Next is our '72 VW bug which was partially underneath the carport.  On the bottom is a snow drift covering a bush next to our house and our dog shaking in protest at having to be outside--even in a coat!

Bang!

Last night we were awakened (or, in my case, prevented) from sleep by a tremendous storm. The lightning and thunder were right over our heads. We lost power for quite a bit of time. My husband said it sounded like we were in a war zone.

An apt metaphor in more ways than one right now.

A little relief from the heat

A glass of iced tea for this hot day. How do you take your iced tea? Most often, I have herbal iced tea, or decaf black iced tea. Occasionally, I'll put lemon and/or sweetener in it, but I often have it without anything added. We do have mint growing in our garden, so, when I think of it, I put some fresh mint in it.

It has been so very hot here today.

It is finally raining now.

On a lighter note...

It's freezing here today. Well, ok, not freezing, but chilly. I'm in a long sleeve shirt and a sweater. Anyone who knows me, knows how unusual that would be for me, for this time of year, at this time in my life!

It's snowing!

It's snowing again. Oddly enough, my first reaction was, "how beautiful"!

Everyone Knows it's Windy

Ok. I had to post about the weather today just so I could use that title! :)

Its cold and windy outside. I should have listened to my mother and brought a hat.

Unusual weather we're havin', ain't it?

Well, it's a beautiful late spring day here on the east coast of the United States in January! The rain has finally stopped, the sun is out and its 64 degrees. Any minute now, the forsythia will burst into cheery yellow blooms.

This is weird, people. This is very weird. Normally around this time, I'm looking for any excuse to keep up my Christmas decorations, just to stave off the inevidable depression that comes with cold, cloudy darkness. Now, I feel as though I should be putting my Easter things out.

Meanwhile, the poor people in Denver have gotten massive amounts of snow dumped on them again! I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.
