With the economy the way it is, I was happy to see this beautiful video today showing a prayer to St. Joseph for employment.

St. Joesph Novena--Day Nine

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Come to my aid, O God. O Lord, make haste to help me.

Almighty God, Father of mercies and giver of all good gifts, I come before you to honor you in your saints and ask their help in my many needs.

You promised those who ask, would receive, those who seek, would find, those who knock, would have doors opened to them.

Hear the prayers of your church, grant my requests, and pardon my sins. Amen.

St. Joseph, just and true, with a father's care you raised the child Jesus, and with a husband's love, you shared your life with Mary, his mother.

I entrust myself to your care and place in your hands this request of mine (say request)….

In quiet Nazareth, long ago, the Holy Spirit spoke to your heart and you followed God's will with wonderful faith.

In the quiet of my days, and in the hard choices I must make, help me follow the Spirit's guidance and believe when I cannot see.

Day 9

Bless all families, O Lord especially those in need. Remembering the life of your Son, we pray for the poor, for those who lack a good home, for those in exile. Grant them a protector like Joseph, O God.

St. Joseph Novena

I just discovered yesterday that I need to sell my mom's home in 5 months in order to keep her in the well-run nursing home that she is currently in.

In light of that, I'm starting a Novena to St. Joseph. Perhaps it is not a coincidence that the month of March is dedicated to Saint Joseph. Each day I will post the prayers for the Novena, beginning today.

Novena Prayer to St. Joseph--Day One

In the quiet of my days, and in the hard choices I must make, help me follow the Spirit's guidance and believe when I cannot see.

Day 1

Oh God, guide of those who listen and helper of those who hear your voice, speak to me, as you did to St. Joseph, and help me accomplish the things you give me to do .

Saint Joseph, Pray for us!

I'm feeling led to pray for families lately. There are so many families under attack right now. Everyone is feeling strain of one sort or another.

Saint Joseph is the patron saint of families, workers, selling houses and a happy death. All, believe it or not, that touch me in one way or another right now, and many others besides.

Saint Joseph was the protector and head of the Holy Family, and as such, intercedes before God for all families on earth. He is the model of persistence, trust in the Lord, and hearing His voice. His legacy is not one of words, but one of deeds.

Let us pray that he protects us and our loved ones during these challenging times .
Saint Joseph, spouse of the Virgin Mary, protect all those families who are looking for a means to sustain themselves. Show those looking for work, God's will for them and give them patience in their search. Guide those looking for housing, as well as those looking to sell their home, so that they find each other. Watch over those close to death, their families and caregivers. Help them see God's Presence at the side of their loved ones.

St. Joseph the Worker

Today is the feast of St. Joseph the Worker. I can't help but think of our late Holy Father, Pope John Paul II on this day because of his role in the toppling of communism during his tenure as pope and his support of the Solidarity Movement in Poland.

St. Joseph, the worker, Pray for us!

Servant of God, Pope John Paul II,
Pray for us!

Saint Joseph

Yesterday was the feast of Saint Joseph. The only hymn in our hymnal dedicated to Saint Joseph is called Saint Joseph was a Just Man or as my dh calls it, Saint Joseph was just a man!

Saint Joseph was, in essence, the adoptive father of Our Lord.

Let us pray especially for those who are adopted, those seeking to adopt, and for troubled pregnant mothers everywhere that they may give the gift of a child to another.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
