Happy Michaelmas Day!

"My men" all have Michael in their names.  Today is Michaelmas, the feast of St. Michael and a day dear to my heart.

In Medieval times, this was considered the first day of Fall and also a day when you would experience good fishing.

Definitely time to get out your Fall decorations, if you haven't already done so, and cook something with a distinctive Fall flavor.

Perhaps an angel food cake--my husband's favorite. <3

Thanks for asking after my son. We never did find the cause of his pneumonia. I'll have to ask him if they ever found out anything more specific.

Definitely time to put out those fall things!

Yes, that's who it is.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
