Art and Beauty Tuesday--Gus Lopez

This painting is called Rays of Light on a Winter Morning by Gus Lopez.

I love the juxtaposition of the icy blues and whites of the water with the yellows and browns of the "dead" wintry landscape. Your eye is drawn up into the yellow of the distant trees and further into the whites of the sky and the birches that line the path.

So much to see during the dormant season.

That's a beautiful painting. I like your choices every week. Each one gives me an opportunity to enjoy something really lovely. It would be fun to go to an art museum with you!

Thanks! I love art galleries. Most of the art up this way is Civil War related. I miss the other stuff.

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
