Today is the 50th anniversary of the Peace Corps, founded by President John F. Kennedy on March 1, 1961. The Peace Corps is still serving today in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Central and South America.
"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark

I didn't know the Peace Corps was just a little older than us. How about that!
I thought the same thing. I had no idea this happened so close to our own births! :)
Perhaps it is a sign that we are meant to do our part to bring peace to the Earth?
Absolutely!!
