Our Lady of Guadallupe Novena--Day Four

Novena Prayer--Day 4
Dearest Mother of Guadalupe, I beg you for a fortified will to imitate your divine Son’s charity, to always seek the good of others in need. Grant me this, I humbly ask of you. Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory be...

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a favorite devotion for those who have strong pro-life convictions. The black sash tied around her waist is symbolic in the Native Mexican culture of pregnancy. The pink dress is embellished with gold flowers. In Nahuatl, the 8 petaled flowers represent mountains. The only flower that has four petals rests on her abdomen (directly below the sash). This four petaled flower symbolizes life and movement.

Mary is our mother. Mary is the mother of all humanity. She cares deeply for us all.

The Memorare

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.

Amen.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!

Did you mean the Prince of Peace award? It doesn't mention me, but thanks so much (if that's the one!)

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
