Fred Astaire Friday

In lieu of Fred Astaire, today I am posting "Christmas 1950", a short film showing Christmas customs around the world circa 1950.

To anyone who protests that on this Friday, December 26, we are no longer celebrating Christmas, I beg to differ. Christmas lasts at least until January 6, (Epiphany) and some say February 2 (Purification of Mary/Candlemas)

Very interesting video. We've always celebrated Christmas at least until January 6th. And we'll be celebrating with YOUR family this Sunday.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
