Unbelievable Intolerance From the "Open Minded"

Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues, wrote a piece recently about Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin that soars to the height of left-wing, feminist hypocrisy.

In it she states that "everything Sarah Palin believes in and practices is antithetical to Feminism which for me is part of one story -- connected to saving the earth, ending racism, empowering women, giving young girls options, opening our minds, deepening tolerance, and ending violence and war." (Emphasis mine.)

She tells us that " Sarah Palin does not believe in evolution. (She) does not believe in abortion" and assumes that Palin "obviously does not believe in sex education or birth control " because of the pregnancy of her 17 year old daughter.

Ensler then goes on to tell us what Sarah Palin *does* believe in. According to Ms. Ensler, Sarah Palin "believes in guns. " And, perhaps most dangerous of all, (she) "believes in God."
(Emphasis mine.)

Apparently, feminism is no longer about equal rights, equal education, equal opportunity and equal pay for equal work. Feminism is now about evolution, global warming, abortion, gun control, sex ed, and atheism!

Oh, and "deepening tolerance." Uhuh. How about a little tolerance for pro-life, Republican, hunting, Christian moms, hmmm? Or is that too much to ask?

And as far as inferring the beliefs of a parent from the behavior of their children, trust me. One can't always do that.

Dymphna: "Feminism is now about evolution, global warming, abortion, sex ed, banning hunting weapons and atheism (oh, or "private" belief)? Give me a break."
Dizzy: No, Liberalism is about those things.

Dymphna: Fair enough. I don't think Feminism *needs* to be *about* Liberalism per se.

Dymphna: "How about a little tolerance for pro-life, Republican, hunting, Christian moms, hmmm?"
Dizzy: How about a little tolerance FROM said moms?

Dymphna: Touche, Dizzy!

Dymphna: "Oh, and as far as assuming the beliefs of a parent from the behavior of their children, trust me. One can't always do that. ;)"
Dizzy: No, but if your daughter gets pregnant, it directly reflects how effective and how mature your sex education was to her.

Dymphna: You just contradicted yourself.

Dizzy: Sarah Palin is a frighteningly horrid liar. All politicians are, to be sure, but she and her counterpart more than most. It scares me.

I beg you to consider issues that will actually change this country actively, rather than issues like abortion which are simply neo-conservative candidates "vote-farming" for the more devout religious votes.

If a truly open-minded, well-informed look at all of the issues leads you to the same conclusions, so be it, but I can't respect a knee-jerk religious vote for the ticket with the conservative Mommy.

Dymphna: Abortion is an issue that *is* changing this country actively, in a way that I do not agree with. Therefore, I will not vote for the candidate who not only supports abortion, but infanticide. A civilization can not exist, in the long term with such a value system.

This is precisely the sort of "tolerance" that I ran into on a lib-dominated website. It's not that these folks disagree with us; they simply can't believe we even exist. We not only have to accept the existence of the Left, we muct also affirm and sanction it! That's tolerance. *rolls eyes*

As the late William F. Buckley so aptly put it: "Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views."

"I believe many liberals simply assume that any person who uses reason will, of necessity, think like a liberal." Exactly. I've seen this over and over again.

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
