Notice the story on my sidebar: Research finds chocolate may improve mood.
Researchers found that those with higher-order neurotic personality and atypical depression were more likely to crave chocolate.Oh well.
Also,
Previous studies have shown that people with atypical depression tend to crave carbohydrates.Uh oh. Guilty as charged.
And,
One study showed that a mineral supplement known as chromium picolinate could reduce the carbohydrate cravings experienced by those with atypical depression.Might be worth a try. I'll bet chocolate tastes better, though.

Hi Dymphna,
My name is Michael Hichborn, and I'm the media director for American Life League. I am currently contacting pro-life and Catholic bloggers all across the internet in a concerted effort to more effectively spread the word through what is being termed “the new media.” As such, I was hoping we could send our video releases to you for posting on your blog. I have recently established a regular webcast for American Life League, and I would be most honored if you would share it with your readers as they come out (approximately, every 2 weeks). If you are interested in this, please e-mail me at mhichborn@all.org and let me know. If not, just e-mail me and ask me not to bother you anymore.
Thanks, and God bless!

yes i heard about that before..i'm more carb than chocolate!
Jackie--ever since the Atkins diet craze, I've been more than aware of how much I crave carbs!
Have you read the Mood Cure by Julia Ross which talks about the correlation of depression and false moods with amino acids? Basically, people are eating too much junk and not enough proteins, depleting their stores of essential amino acids. It is quite interesting and helpful.
Interesting. I think consumption of junk has gone way up--as I sit here drinking a Coke! So, I wouldn't be surprised if what you said is true.
I also read stuff about that a while ago from some mental health research sites I've signed up for.
I crave carbs.
I do too, Jennifer. I admit to feeling better if I don't eat a lot of junk.
I honestly think society would be healthier if we worked a long mid-day break into our schedules.
Less caffeine--more naps!
but i love chocolate!
