New Mass Translation Approved!!

Fantastic article in Catholic Insight on the new Mass translation. It goes into detail I have not seen before. So much of the original Latin is being translated correctly this time.

For example, Et cum spiritu tuo, will be correctly translated as "And with your spirit" instead of "And also with you." Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa, will become "through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault"” and not "“through my own fault.”" Ecce Agnus Dei is now correctly translated as "Behold the Lamb of God" instead of "This is the Lamb of God."

From these few examples alone, one can immediately see the solemnity that will be restored to the Mass via these more accurate translations. It seems to highlight the fact that the Mass is not just a communal meal where we pat ourselves on the back and tell each other how good we are doing, but a re-presentation of the sacrifice of Christ on the cross (hence the term, "sacrifice of the Mass") where Christ becomes truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in Holy Communion.

Deo Gratias!! Thanks be to God!!!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
