For a complete change of pace, I wanted to share a picture of these 2 alpacas I saw today at the farmer's market. They were selling lots of cool things made from their wool. Or, perhaps I should say, lots of warm things! ;)

Socially Acceptable Rodentia

My cat chased it around for a while and lost interest.
Now, my dog has decided that it needs to be eliminated at all costs. Since I am sitting here in a soft leg-cast (see previous post) and can't safely hobble about to interfere, I must instead simply watch.
Poor thing. If it were something less socially acceptable, I wouldn't be rooting for the rodent.

Watch out!
I heard this story on the radio. Apparently, in Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary in Warwickshire England, there is a cockatoo who is fervently guarding her eggs against all possible intruders. The only problem is, they are chocolate Easter eggs!!
Pippa, who is, apparently, a man-hating feminist vampire cockatoo, threw one of the Cadbury Cream eggs at a photographer, and bit the neck of a builder recently. Talk about maternal instinct!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
