Twitter Feed on Sidebar

I've added a new feature to The Well.  We now have a Twitter feed on the sidebar under my profile.  Just scroll down to find it.

On it we have tweets on Catholic spirituality from Fr. Stan and Franciscan Minute Meditations as well as two different feeds from our Orthodox brethren. Use it as a spiritual "shot in the arm" for the day!

Check frequently to see who else I find to add to our list!

Also, I've added a Twitter haiku feed to Karumi Garden Haiku and a poetry feed to Falling Plum Poetry.  Stop by and check them out!

Blog Update

I wanted to update my readers on some seasonal changes to the blog for December.

I have a new category of links on the top of my sidebar: Advent and Christmas Spiritual Resources. The list is broken down into 5 different sites (I-V). Under Creighton.edu, the 10 letters (A-K) are specific links within that site. There are many others, so feel free to go and browse on all the links.

The virtue for December is Union with God. If you click on the picture of the Madonna and Child with the Holy Eucharist I have on my sidebar, it will take you to a sermon by Father John J. Lombardi, Chaplain of the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes at Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, MD on the subject of Union with God during an Advent Retreat.

Further down on the sidebar, is a picture (with a link) of the Immaculate Conception, the traditional devotion for December. The Feast of the Immaculate Conception is December 8, and is a Holy Day of Obligation. In spite of its occurrence during the season of Advent, the Immaculate Conception does not refer to Jesus' conception in the womb of Mary, but rather to Mary's conception, free from original sin, in the womb of St. Anne.

Advent is a wonderful time to meditate on the role of Mary in salvation history.

Word Verification

Lately, I've begun noticing that word verification on blogger (more on certain blogs oddly, enough) are now actual words.

They were never actual words before.

What's the deal?

It does make it much easier and somehow, more fun.

After multiple attempts, I think I finally have a reliable method of notifying people when I post new content on this blog. Simply enter your email address in the box located on the top of the sidebar and you should begin receiving notification when there are new posts here on Dymphna's Well.

A few blog notes

I don't know why some of the comments sections are not showing up. It's not something I'm doing.

Thanks to this graphics site and this blogger tips site, ds and I have figured out how to add a new background graphic to the blog header.

Now, if only I could figure out how to change the entire background!

But, one step at a time.

What's New?

Just wanted to update everyone on the new Blogger and latest blog changes here at the Well.

The main one I wanted to point out is the Anxiety and Depression News over on the right hand side of the page. That is actually an RSS feed which connects directly to Insight Journal. I don't compose those headlines, nor do I write the stories. But if you click on the headlines in question, you can read the full stories there.

The new Blogger also allows you (or me, actually) to change the colors of the blog. For now, I'm sticking to various shades of green. I'm considering going purple for Lent, though. We'll see.
