Music Monday--Advent--Gabriel's Message

For Advent, Dymphna's Well will be doing a Lessons and Carols of a sort in preparation for Christmas. Today's carol precedes the official start of Advent, but I thought we needed a head start and a reminder of the coming season.

This video features the Choir of King's College, Cambridge Choir in this haunting melody. Also called The Basque Carol, its words speak of the Annunciation of the birth of Christ to the Blessed Virgin.

That carol is just beautiful and Kings College Choir is really good. I'm glad you're doing this approach for Advent and I'm looking forward to see what else you'll be offering.

Thanks, Barbara! Some of the Music Mondays vids I wanted to put up, would only play on YouTube and not on a blog, so I had to find a proper substitute. Kings College Choir certainly fits the bill!

You're welcome, Joann.

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
