Busy 24 hours

It's been busy this last 24 hours. Last night, ds began the process of moving into Emmaus--a coffee house/music venue/thrift shop that is run by some local young people. They had an opening in their dorm-style housing and ds is going for it. Exciting stuff!

DH just called. He was on his way across the street at work when he was attacked by a....are you ready for it....?....a HUMMINGBIRD. Really. He ran and popped out his leg. He is on his way home now. Gotta watch out for those killer hummingbirds!

Someone in Maryland has obviously been reading this book!!!Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketPhoto Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I didn't previously know that hummingbirds were a danger!

Update: Dh just got home and said it was a mockingbird. Ruined my post, lol!

Mocking birds do have attitudes. I mean, their name says it all. They spend their lives "mocking" other animals. I'm glad DH survived the brutal assault. Working in a preschool, it brings to mind, I might have said, "Use your words, plesae." That's what we tell the kids when they get very upset and agitated. LOL

Oh . . . if you're in Oscar Scherer State Park in Osprey, Florida, beware the Killer Scrub Jays! These puny birds fear nothing and no one.

One of my mother's best friends, who is in her 70's, still fears birds after a similar attack.

If I've told D-Bil once, I've told him a 1000 times, when you go south of the Mason-Dixon line, you must wear camo, or the hummingbirds WILL
get you. Maryland hummingbirds for
millenia have threatened mankind. It has only been within the past 823 years, that we and they have learned to somewhat co-exist, although there is always electricity in the air at any time bird and human meet. The Maryland Hummingbird (Hummingbird Liberalis) is an especially annoying type.

D-Bil can print this out and take it to work as an excuse for missing work, as the birds were blocking the border...

I'm sure that most of the Maryland hummingbirds are "Hummingbird Liberalis" type!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
