The souls of the just shall shine, and shall dart about like sparks through stubble.I love this image and now I understand better this picture which I used in some previous posts.
If you have ever sat at a camp fire, large and all-engulfing, you have doubtless seen these sparks, darting in and out, like live things, and rising to the unseen heavens.
The idea that our loved-ones are "darting about like sparks" is an endearing one.
An earlier verse in the same chapter is equally comforting:
The souls of the righteous are in the hands of God and no torment shall touch them. ~Wisdom 3:1
This is a common verse used at funerals and printed on holy cards.
Lets remember to pray for our beloved dead, and for those who mourn them.

My cousin's family lost someone close to them recently. Molly Dunne was the 7-year old twin daughter of their close friend. She passed away on May 17th of Pulmonary Hypertension after bravely fighting the illness for 2 years. It was diagnosed when she passed out unexpectedly on her first day of Kindergarten. Her family and friends are devastated at their untimely loss.
I would like to ask all my readers to please keep the Dunne family, and their friends, in their prayers.

May the Lord receive the soul of that girl into His loving arms, and may He grant her family peace and grace to get through this terrible time.
What to say to people who are going through such a tragedy? Or is anything to be said?
But thankfully God's word has reminded us that death is not the end, but a new beginning. Thanks for this touching reflection.
Evan
Thank you for your thoughts and prays, Evan.
