Pope to canonize and name Hildegard of Bingen as Doctor of the Church

I'm so excited to see this multi-talented music composer and philosopher to be named a Saint and Doctor of the Church!!!

This is very exciting. I first discovered St. Hildegard when I bought a couple of CDs of her works. Her music is joyful. At one time I had a book of her drawings but I can't find it now. Our Holy Father is awesome in that he unerringly selects those who set good examples of fidelity and obedience to be Doctors of the Church. Now I must find that book and resurrect those CDs!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
