Today is the feast of Saints Cosmos and Damian, twin brothers who were born in Arabia in the third century. Because of their reputation for healing without accepting pay, they are called "the un-mercenary" in the Eastern Church and also "the silverless".
Sts. Cosmos and Damian, pray for those without access to healthcare. Pray for our politicians and our own individual hearts that they may be inspired to love as Christ loved.
Pray also, for those who chose to abort their children, especially in multiple pregnancies. May God inspire them to life.

Prayers for those moms who abort.
That's interesting--it never occurred to me there might be a patron saint for such a cause. I've always thought these two were really interesting, for some reason, without ever knowing why. I didn't know they were twins, either. :)
I had heard these saints' mentioned on several occasions but never knew anything about them. Sounds like they while they may have been 'silverless', they had hearts of gold!
Sts. Cosmos and Damian, pray for us...
They are mentioned in the Canon of the Latin Rite Mass every day - an awesome pair. How wonderful they could grow up together, work together in life and die together as martyrs. I prayed that they would watch over doctors. Now that you put the pro-life note in your post, I pray that they will inspire doctors to be pro-life cradle to grave.
So many people think it is ok to abort some children just because they are part of a multiple pregnancy. I pray these twin saints who gave healthcare for free, will inspire people to be generous with caring for others.
I was able to choose Cosmas as my Catholic confirmation name, the Archbishop noted, 'Haven't had one of those in a while'..Never knew any of this history, however I am a scientist and considered a patient and unmercenary healer amongst my friends, most say I should even think about myself now and then...
