A Musical Interlude

And now, for a musical interlude--a break from your busy day.

Note how this wooden ball somehow manages to play this peice with human-like feeling--pauses, accents and all.

This is so purely Japanese - Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring played among nature and the sounds of nature. For a predominantly Buddhist/Shintoist people, they have a remarkably Christian tendency. The construction of the wooden instrument is also part of the Japanese genius. A very artistic advert. God bless the Japanese people and may He grant them the grace of true Christianity.

It really is very Japanese, isn't it? I love the fact that the Catechism says "All nations form but one community. This is so because all stem from the one stock which God created to people the entire earth, and also because all share a common destiny, namely God. His providence, evident goodness, and saving designs extend to all against the day when the elect are gathered together in the holy city." 842

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
