Poetry Wednesday

Red, gently applied over yellow
with a dry brush.
Cold apple.

This is one of my own poems, written in October of 2009.

Loved it then. Love it now. Great way to begin a crisp Fall morning.

This truly captures the essence of the apple, Dymphna. What a beautiful poem! Thank you so much for sharing it.

It's been said that haiku is an form to get the basics of, but extremely difficult to master. It certainly calls for poignancy with extreme brevity--and brevity is not my strong point! :-)

But very nice job here!

Thanks for posting!

Thanks, Evan! The briefer the better for me!

I meant to say that "It's been said that haiku is an EASY form to get the hang of..."

I remember doing haikus in elementary school--teachers seem to love having their students do them. Maybe they would help me learn to say things in fewer words.

My haiku almost never follow the 5-7-5 format. That would be a good discipline for me to cultivate, I think!

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
