Scripture Saturday

O God, you are my God, for you I long;
for you my soul is thirsting.
My body pines for you
like a dry, weary land without water.
So I gaze on you in the sanctuary
to see your strength and your glory.

~Psalm 63

As the heat builds in the summer and we long for water, let us remember what it is like to long for God.

I love, love, love that picture. It is a great visual to remind us that Jesus (and God) is always there for us. Beautiful.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
