Veni Creator Spiritus

Tomorrow is the feast of Pentecost--the coming of the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is often shown as fire. The Scripture is full of references of God as fire.

Moses and the burning bush. The bush is not consumed. God is not consumed--is not worn out. But, to us humans, God is an all consuming Presence.
Zeal for your house shall consume me. ~Psalm 69:9
The Holy Spirit is the spouse of Our Lady.
She conceived by the Holy Spirit.
The Spirit is also the result of the Love between the Father and the Son. God is a family. God wants us to experience that love ourselves. None of us is unloved.
You are precious in my eyes. You are honored, and I love you. ~Isaiah 43:4
The Holy Spirit comes to our aid when we are too overwhelmed even to pray.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. ~Romans 8:26
The Holy Spirit is that inexpressible, necessary, undefinable part of our God and of our faith.

Come, Holy Spirit!

What an awesome day. Your picture beautifully captures it. I like how you say the Holy Spirit comes to our aid when we are too overwhelmed to pray. I think that is where I was last night. So I sat in quiet with Arch Angel Gabriel, trusting that things will settle down.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
