New Colors

Once again I have changed the colors on the blog, this time, to a pink-ish color, in honor of Laetere Sunday. Laetere is Latin for rejoice which is the first word of the introit for this Sunday's Mass--Laetare, Jerusalem, Rejoice, O Jerusalem.

It is similar in tone and focus to Gaudete Sunday, the third Sunday in Advent, when the priest will, once again, wear rose colored vestments.

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
