Postcard History

This site has historic penny postcards of various places in the U.S. Here is one of row houses in Baltimore, complete with marble steps.

Notice the newness. Notice the lack of cars.

Ahhh, the marble steps, which residents would wash and polish again and again.

Neat site. However, at the local Cracker Barrel, I saw a post card that said "Greetings from Frederick, MD" with a photo of I-270 . . .

. . . in ROCKVILLE!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
