Batman!!!

Forty years ago today, the final Batman TV show aired. This, friends, is the real Batman. The theme song is the real Batman theme song. Reminds me of my dad. We used to make him read the "Bam!" and "Pow" etc. out loud when we watched it! :D

Grooooovy, man!!

Holy memory jog, Dymphna!

My brother told me that, once in a bar where he and others had been watching some sports event, the Batman movie came on afterward. He says the whole place was doing the Biff! Sock! Kapow! sound effects.

Cesar Romero said he was horrified at Jack Nicholson's portrayal of the Joker in the first of the Tim Burton Batman movies . . . none of which I've seen. The West-Ward campy sendup is still my favorite.

Oh yeah, definitely! I can't get used to these "super heroes as near-criminals". Or at least that's what all these "dark" super heroes seem like to me. The campy Batman is still the best!!

Dymphna's favorite quotes

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
