Driving while old

Drove the '61 bug today. I have to constantly remind myself that it is NOT a "modern" car. I had a terrible time trying to remember to turn off the turn signal--no, it wouldn't go off by itself.

I envisioned myself "driving while old" with sticky notes all over the windshield saying "TURN OFF THE TURN SIGNAL"! Now I realize why we didn't have things such as cupholders and music players in cars back then--all one's concentration had to be on driving the car!

lol, my indicators are broken and don't turn off either :)

you'll get used to it- if I ever drive a car when they do turn off, I still try to turn them off, lol!!

doesnt help that I learned to drive in mum's car, where they were broken too! she has a new one now, lol must ask her how she is coping with the indicators (she's had it 4 days)

God Bless

That's why they now beep and blink and talk to you. When my blinker is stuck, a little warning ding-ding plays. I call it my "idiot warning". Also, it tells me when I've left my lights on. I also tell it "Thanks." Guess we are spoiled now days?!?!?!

My regular car tells me when the lights are left on, too. It actually turns them on and off automatically as well! I didn't know yours had a turn signal indicator--wow!

The other day, mine beeped at me mercilessly until I seat belted the case of coke I had in the passenger seat! :)

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
