Having grown up in the '60's and '70's as I did, I was deprived of many a Catholic cultural experience. In all my 12 years of Catholic schooling, I only experienced a May Crowning once, that I remember.Today, I decided to get in touch with my inner Catholic child. So, I bought some (fake) roses on wire stems and made a crown of flowers for our Immaculate Heart of Mary statue. I don't have a current picture for you, but the picture on the right is a black and white of the statue itself that ds took. Just imagine the crown of pink roses on it.

Yes, we are!
I remember in elementary school having "May processions." We even did the May pole thing once or twice and ended with crowning the Blessed Mother. I remember I was bummed because I was never picked to be the one to do the crowning. I don't think we did it every year, but at least a few times when I was younger.
