Tragedy in Virginia

As of this writing, more than 30 people have been killed by a lone gunman at Virginia Technical Institute in the United States.

Please pray for the victims, their families, alumni, and all who have been touched by this tragedy.

I woke up this morning to this horrendous and tragic news....My heart and prayers go out to the youth who were needlessly murdered, to their grieving relatives and to those fighting for their lives in hospitals.

BRING PRAYER BACK TO SCHOOLS.

In deep sadness

I read this news in today's morning newspaper. They are in my prayers.

Prayers, lots of them, are headed their way. Ds is very confused about how something like this can happen. Dd is unaware of it -- I think I'll keep it that way.

It's terrible and so very sad. What do we say to our small children when they hear that this can happen in schools. (even though this was a university)
Prayers for all.

There really is no way to explain something like this. I heard someone say on the radio yesterday, "If you don't believe in evil, you're not paying attention."

That's not to say that the perpetrator wasn't troubled. But, as I said, there is no way to explain something like this, I don't think.

We prayed for the victims and the perpetrator at Mass this morning.

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
