Important New Information!

Thanks to Darrell over at Southern Conservative, I have learned an exciting and valuable piece of new information today. For those of you who are as out of the loop as I am, Hugh Laurie (House) is BRITISH!!! I honestly didn't know that! In spite of my sometimes posing as a "TV hating elistist" to quote Darrell, I am a fan of House. I'm still flipping out from watching the clip below of his wonderfully accented acceptance speech. Wow!

Oh gosh, yes. I haven't watched network programming these last 9 years now, but I know Hugh Laurie very well, as the other half of the British comedy team, Fry and Laurie. He was Bertie Wooster in Jeeves and Wooster, and played several parts in Rowan Atkinson's Blackadder. He partnership with Stephen Fry seems over, and he is making a go of it on American TV.

And I just remembered that he had a small dramatic part in Sense and Sensibility, where his performance was about as wooden as oak. Maybe it was his dramatic debut, and he has learned the trade better since then.

As much as I love British comedy, I haven't been able to get into Black Adder. I'll have to try again, LOL!

Have you ever watched 'One Foot In the Grave'? It's about a grumpy old man and his long suffering wife.

Absolutely hilarious LOL!

Peace

Marie PS: I have never seen 'House' heehee!

Yes! I liked it. I was shocked at how they ended it, though!

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
