I really hope the Turkish will not commit any foolishness against the Holy Father. It is in their best interest to cool down and keep the barking aside, otherwise their dreamt of European entry will be postponed sine die! Let's pray the little exorcism of Saint Michael the Archangel for the Pope everyday, so that the celestial hosts protect him from any harm.

I wish the Holy Father wouldn't go. But all we can do is pray and sacrifice for his safety. We'll just have to see how crazy the Turks really are.

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in the day of battle. Be our safeguard agasint the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray. And do thou, O prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell, Satan, and all the evil spirits that prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.

~Amen

"Slavery ended in medieval Europe only because the church extended its sacraments to all slaves and then managed to impose a ban on the enslavement of Christians (and of Jews). Within the context of medieval Europe, that prohibition was effectively a rule of universal abolition. "— Rodney Stark
