ACLU head, Joe Cook recently had this to say about most of us in the U.S.:
"They believe that they answer to a higher power, in my opinion. Which is the kind of thinking that you had with the people who flew the airplanes into the buildings in this country, and the people who did the kind of things in London."
Actually, he was speaking to the Tangipahoa Parish School Board in Louisiana. But people who "believe that they answer to a higher power" covers a lot of ground, don't you think? That covers Christians, Jews, Muslims, anyone who attends any 12 step meeting and even many agnostics. How can this guy sleep at night saying that anyone with a belief system has the same mentality as the 9/11 terrorists?
Do I really want the so called "Civil Liberties Union" looking after my rights if this is what they believe? Where is the media outrage on this?

Most of the "Higher Power(S)" I've read about hold "LOVE" as the key. Love of yourself and love of others; love of the world, etc. If you live your life directed by love -- you will not fly an airplane into a building. People who do that, believe in another PERSON as having power. They do not believe in Unity. The believe one person holds all the answers. The true "Higher Power(S)" preach that murder is wrong -- in ANY form. I believe we are all equal (including the guy with the not-so-smart comment). He is confused -- very confused. Sending him anger will only anger him more. So, instead, I send him love and pray that one day he will see the world with clearer eyes.
You have some excellent points. Belief in a Higher Power usually centers around love as the key.
The only "unity" this guy apparently believes in is the one in his own mind--that all spiritual people are terrorists.
Sending him love instead of anger is the right thing to do, of course. Pray that he meets Love through someone on earth who believes in a Higher Power.
Their problem is that people who believe in a higher power are harder to control. That is why oppressive secular governments like the USSR have usually been athiest. And I believe that that is why the left wants God out of public life as what I see as a "first step".
I do love a good conspiracy theory. ;)
